IN-HOUSE: HUMANE

PROJECT: AI PIN POCKET ARCHITECTURE

I designed a pocket architecture that allowed for full functionality of Humane’s wearable device, the Ai Pin, while mostly concealed by fabric. This meant ensuring capacitive touch worked through multiple layers of fabric, the sound captured and output by the microphones and speaker wasn’t compromised, and there was no clipping of the FOV cones for the camera, laser projection, and TOF sensor. The pocket was designed to be a part licensable or distributable to apparel partners who could assemble the architecture at the garment panel level during manufacturing.

This architecture was debuted at TED in May, 2024, and was critical both in allowing us to provide a subtle preview of the Pin before launch, as well as to begin partnership conversations with fashion and sportswear brands.
