PROJECT: ORION EMG WRISTBAND
Served as technical and programmatic lead for team of 12 technical soft goods consultants. Drove soft goods integration of a novel wristband architecture: a tubular knit textile encapsulating the electromechanical framework: including a compute hub, FPCs, and EMG sensors.
Was brought into Meta’s project when only an ID vision and rough basic soft goods architecture were defined. I worked closely with Meta’s ID, PD, UX, and human factors teams to define and validate product design elements like: wristband sizing and sensor spacing, sensor emergence through a textile, wristband closure mechanism, required preload on wrist. Also helped client to define a soft goods reliability test suite, ran some of this testing in-house to validate architectural concepts, helped to get test stations built and running at a manufacturing partner, and created a rough DFM for wristband assembly.
